Mechanization is helping farmers reduce labor dependency, improve yields, and optimize production costs across the country. The seeds sector plays a vital role in ensuring food security and improved crop yields for Bangladesh’s 16.5 million farmers. Rapid agricultural modernization, coupled with the growing adoption of hybrid and high-yield seed varieties, has significantly expanded the commercial seed market. According to industry data, the Bangladesh seed market reached USD 312.10 million in 2025 and is projected to grow to USD 421.48 million by 2030, registering a 6.20% CAGR during 2025–2030. This growth reflects increasing farmer awareness, technological advancement, and strong policy support. The fertilizer industry is a cornerstone of Bangladesh’s agricultural productivity and food security. With annual fertilizer demand ranging between 6–7 million metric tons, the country relies on imports for approximately 85–90% of its total fertilizer requirement. In FY2022, Bangladesh used 5.69 crore metric tons of fertilizer, of which 2.16 crore metric tons were urea, the most widely used fertilizer. Demand peaks during the Boro season (November to February), the country’s largest rice-growing period, making fertilizer availability a strategic national priority.
